What are Google Duo Group Links
Until now, you had to find and select the users from their contact list to add them to a Duo group. Now the same has been succeeded by links – even though the traditional option still exists. You will be given a unique link for your group that you must share with others you wish to join your group. You can share the link with another app such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Other users must tap the link from which they can accept or decline the group invitation. Once they are in the same group, any member can start the group conversation.
How to Find Duo Group Links
There are two ways to create and find a group link in Duo.
Method 1: Send an invitation before starting a conversation
In the first method, the Duo app will show you the group invite link when you create a group and add at least one member. So launch the Duo app on you phone and click on the Create group button At the bottom. Add at least one member to the group.
The app will take you to the group call screen. Here you will find the group invitation. Copy the invitation link with the button next to it or tap the share icon and send it to your friends via an app. Only if a member taps the Start button, the Duo app will place a call and notify others.
When you add other people to a group before you start a real conversation, the app will let them know you’ve added them to a Duo group.
Method 2: Send invite mid call
If you are already in a group conversation, each of the group members can invite more people (up to 12) also halfway through the conversation. To find the invite link, tap the three dots icon at the bottom of the dialing screen and press the Share icon. Send the link to your friends.
Note: If the three-dot icon is missing, update your Duo app or try solutions to the problem with Duo not working properly.
Who can join Duo Group via links
Anyone with a Duo account can join the group. A Duo account and app is required.
What happens when you receive a Duo group invitation
When a Duo user clicks on the invite link, the Duo app opens on their phoneIf your phone doesn’t have the Duo app, the interface will take you to the Play Store (Android) and App Store (iOS) to download the app. You will then see other group members and the option to join or decline the group invitation. Tap the Join button takes you to the ongoing call.
If no video call is currently in progress, the app’s interface will take you to the group home screen. Tap Start button to start a group video call.
Can other members Share Group links
Yes. As mentioned above, each group member can invite more people through the link. So be careful who you share your group link with.
What if the creator ends the group call?
If a group creator or another member ends the group conversation, the conversation will not end for everyone. It is not ended until everyone leaves the group conversation. Until then, others can still participate in the group conversation. All group members will see the ‘Join live call’ message on the group icon.
Where can you create and participate in group invitations?
Since the Duo group calls feature is currently not available on the web, you can only create and join group links from the mobile apps: Android and iOS. If you own a Chromebook, the links will work on it too, as it uses the Duo Android app.
