Basically what it does is it allows us to set a threshold for CPU usage, RAM usage, hard drive and network speed. If the usage value exceeds the threshold, Windows is prevented from entering standby mode. If the current usage is below the threshold, it will trigger to go into standby. Here you can set the delay before the software starts checking the system to actually enter standby mode. The nice thing here is that you can set the exact time in seconds. Set the thresholds
Here you have to set the threshold values for various parameters that the software will monitor. It even checks the current usage of these specific parameters. If it exceeds the value, the usage column will turn red, indicating that the system will not go into standby. A green signal causes the system to go into standby. You can even turn off specific parameters completely. This prevents the software from monitoring it. Also some extra features include Cancel on sound that will prevent Standby when sound is produced. You can even force standby at a specific time, regardless of all thresholds.
Prevent by a specific process
If you think that a particular software is just really important and should keep running until you disable it, add the process as an exception in the software. So if the process keeps running, your system won’t go into standby until you force it to.
Suspend / Sleep
Microsoft had removed the option for Hibernation directly from Windows 8 and turned it into hibernation mode. While hibernation is still present, it has now gotten smart. When the system goes into hibernation mode, it stores the data in RAM and even hard disk. So even if the system is turned off, the data will remain as it was before the system was turned off (which is hibernation by the way). With standby! you get full control over this option by specifically choosing between Suspend and Hibernate. In Suspend, the data is only stored in RAM. You can force the system to always hibernate in standby mode. Tip If you choose to enter hibernation mode, the system will take longer to recover data from the hard drive.
