Dropbox provides DEB files for its installer. Go to the download section of your website: And download the appropriate DEB file. Assuming you are using 64-bit Ubuntu, get the deb file for the 64-bit version.
Install Dropbox Installer
The deb file you downloaded is just a Dropbox installer. The actual Dropbox installation starts later, similar to the Steam installation on Ubuntu. To install the downloaded deb file, double click on it or right click and select open with software installation. The software center will open and you can click install button. Wait for the installation to finish.
Start the Dropbox installation
The Dropbox installer is now installed. Press the Windows key (also known as the superkey), look for Dropbox and click on it. On the first release, it shows two pop-ups. One about restarting Nautilus (the file explorer in Ubuntu) and one about installing Dropbox.
