Why Microsoft Word?

After all, it is a word editor that hardly has room for image editing features It’s all about simplicity Microsoft has slowly added a ton of creative options to its Office apps over the past decade. Its many fonts and shapes also make it the ideal base to design your watermark images. Not to mention that Word is available on almost all Windows machines and its operation is a far cry from using complicated image editing tools such as Photoshop. All it takes is to launch the desktop app and follow a few simple steps. So let’s get started.
Create a watermark in Microsoft Word
Step 1: Choose the background shape
Open a Word document and insert a shape from the Shapes library. It can be a simple circle, or you can create a complex one by mixing different shapes (the ideal choice).
One of my favorite things to do is pick one shape and embed the second. For example, you have selected a circle as your basic shape. So now you can experiment by layering 2-3 dotted circles.
To do this, right-click on the second image and select Format Shape. Go to Line and select one of the many available Dash types. P.ro Tip: You can also add an icon to your watermark image.
Step 2: Try out different fonts
When you are done with the shape and icon, it is time to insert the text. If it’s just one word, you’re in luck, because you should come up with only one font that best describes your calling.
But if it is more than one, don’t worry. Word has a large number of fonts that you can combine to make your image stand out.
Step 3: Save it as an image
After all the elements have been added, it is time to preferably save the image in PNG format. And here comes the crazy part – Word doesn’t have a built-in mechanism for saving a file as an image. The text editor does not consider a mixture of shapes as a picture and rightly so. Well, they are just forms for the program. So now we will have to trick Word to believe that the watermark is an image. That’s when Word’s built-in screenshot tool comes to the rescue. It basically takes a screenshot of your Word document and saves it as an image. Open a new Word document to use the Clipping tool. Click Insert> Screenshot> Screen Cut, which activates the clipping tool in about 3-5 seconds.
All you need to do is highlight the area of the first document and it will be immediately transferred to the new page. Make sure to keep the cursor out of sight when grabbing the screenshot. Cool Tip: You can also use the Snipping Tool in Windows 10.
Step 4: Crop it however you want
After the captured screenshot is transferred, you can use MS Word’s built-in image tools to make it more meaningful. If this is your first time, I want to start by telling you that Word now has a plethora of filters to choose from.
To apply a filter, simply select one from the Artistic Effects tab. For circular images, you must first crop the image to a circle (so that the effects don’t come out). To activate Crop, click the picture, go to the Format tab and select Crop> Aspect Ratio> 1: 1.
Once you’ve done that, select Crop to Shape and select a round shape and crop the image. Now when you apply the filter, it will be applied to the round part. After adjusting the image, right click and select Save Image As and that’s it. Not that difficult, right?
Limitations
Microsoft Word is by no means a graphics tool and therefore creating watermark images in Word is strictly reserved for the use of shapes. Although the built-in image editing suite also produces beautiful images, the edges remain white.
