Guide: How to Add Contacts to WhatsApp via WhatsApp Web
A few years ago, WhatsApp rolled out support for WhatsApp Web, allowing you to open it in the browser of your choice on the computer. This saves a lot of time and effort, especially for people like me who spend a lot of time sitting and working at their desks. I find it time-consuming to choose up my phone every now and then to reply to messages on WhatsApp. WhatsApp Web solves this problem effectively. All it takes is to scan a QR code from the WhatsApp mobile app. Recently someone I can’t name added me to my WhatsApp family group. There I discovered the cousins that I had never met or knew existed! I wanted to save their numbers but couldn’t because the functionality was lacking. I realized how limited WhatsApp Web is. So I found a solution that allows you to add contacts using WhatsApp Web and you need to set it up up only once. Let’s start.
1. InTouchApp
InTouchApp is a contacts management app available for Android and iOS. The process on both platforms remains the same, but I will be using my Android phone for this guide Go to Play Store and install the app from the link below. Download InTouchApp Android When you’re done, open the app and sign up for a new account. This is required by the app to sync the contacts. You will need to enter your email ID, the number associated with your WhatsApp and your name to complete the sign up After creating your account, click on your profile picture at the top (center) of the app to open your profile page and click Settings (gear icon) there.
Under Accounts, click Select accounts to sync and make sure your Gmail ID is set to sync. This is required so that the data can be synchronized with your Android phone once you save the contact via WhatsApp Web.
The app is free to download and use, but it does offer in-app purchases (you don’t need them for this trick, although). You have to follow a similar process on iPhone. Download the app via the link below. Make sure to enable the necessary permissions from the Settings app to sync the data with the InTouchApp. Download InTouchApp iOS Your smartphone is fully pressed and dressed. Now let’s go to Chrome on your desktop.
2. WhatsApp main manager
Open Google Chrome and install the WhatsApp Lead Manager extension from the link below. As the name suggests, this helps you manage your leads and contacts and store them in the cloud. The WhatsApp Lead Manager extension comes from the same guys who created InTouchApp.
After you install the extension, a new icon will appear on your status bar with the rest of the extensions. That is it. You’re done. Visit the InTouchApp Chrome extension page Updating: InTouchApp is now available in the Chrome Web Store. When this review was originally posted we had to download it directly from their official website. They also have one addon for Firefox since then. Let’s move on to see how to save a contact with WhatsApp Web.
3. Save contacts in WhatsApp using WhatsApp Web
Open WhatsApp Web in a new tab or window in Chrome. You will see a QR code. To scan this code and connect to the WhatsApp on you mobile, open WhatsApp app on your smartphone. Then click the three-dot menu and select WhatsApp Web. If you are using an iPhone, select Settings at the bottom of the screen and then WhatsApp Web.
As soon as WhatsApp on the phone correctly scans the code displayed on the WhatsApp webpage, you will be signed in. You can then view your contacts and chats in the browser. Suppose you have received a new message from an unknown number. Probably a new customer or a sales request? A Tinder date?
Click on the InTouchApp extension we installed earlier in the second step. You must log in the first time. You can use your email ID, mobile number or account ID which you can find on your profile page in the app to login.
Click the extension again when you are on WhatsApp Web and you will see the Save contact option. Enter the person’s information and don’t forget to save it. Syncing those details can take a few minutes here. Hence, the name of the contact may appear after a while, but it will.
The new contact should show up in the WhatsApp app and the Contacts app on you phoneYou will also see the contact’s name appear in the WhatsApp web browser within a few minutes after the sync is complete. Neat, right?
What I like about the InTouchApp is that you can add other details with it, such as job title or company. You can also use the comments section to save relevant information such as quotes, questions asked, and so on. Visit WhatsApp Web
What’s up on the Web?
Receiving WhatsApp messages from unknown numbers is nothing new. The next time you receive a message from a person who is not in your contact list, you can easily save the details. You don’t want to miss an opportunity just because you were too lazy to choose up the phone, or too busy working on your computer. Hopefully this guide helps you save time, as well as potential embarrassment. While you can continue to use WhatsApp Web, make sure you follow basic guidelines to keep your WhatsApp secure.
