An important part of this process is install third-party tools that help protect, clean, manage and optimize my PC for the best experience. So if you want to optimize your new Windows PC for the best experience, I know 12 Free Windows Tools I Highly Recommend Installing on a New Windows PC as soon as you start it up.
Avast
Protecting your PC with antivirus software is a great start for PC security. I trust for the past 9 years Avast for protecting my PC from malware and other security threats. The free solution is more than adequate for an average user comes with real-time protection And frankly, Avast has recently added some amazing advanced features features making it a perfect malware solution. Low use of resources while gaming, application behavior control, Wi-Fi security and online security are just some of the cool ones features Avast is available for free. [Download Avast]
IObit Uninstaller
Windows standard program uninstaller leaves unwanted data after removal a programme. This data is accumulating up and wastes space, and if not taken care of on time; it will lead to slower PC and even program errors.
Getting a good third-party uninstaller is a must for Windows and I recommend IObit Uninstaller. The tool is really easy to use and removes almost all kinds of unwanted data that left my programsincluding registry entries, system integrated files, temporary files and program data, etc. It too allows you to uninstall programs in bulk, and it will automatically answer most removal prompts during the process. It also has a built-in Windows Updates Manager and Browser Plugin Manager. [Download IObit Uninstaller]
Unchecky
Many programs come with bundled programs that are usually unnecessary and may even contain malware. And if you are one of those Then click all the way to installation button fellows, you could often install a lot of useless stuff. This is where Unchecky comes in handy.
With Unchecky, bundled program installation offers are automatically disabled or rejected when you install new programs.
Just install the program and it will make sure you don’t install anything unwanted except the main programWhile I will still recommend that you check programs carefully during installation to make sure you decline an offer that Uncheck may have missed (never happened to me). [Download Unchecky]
PC Decrapifier
If you bought a new PC from a manufacturer, it most likely contains pre-installed third-party apps (aka bloatware). In most cases, you don’t need these apps (at least, I never did). If you don’t want these third party apps and want to get rid of them all at once, then PC Decrapifier is the tool you need.
The program will search your PC for known bloatware programs and give you the option to remove themYou can simply select the ones you don’t want and PC Decrapifier will remove them. [Download Pc Decrapifier]
EagleGet
Your browser’s download manager is very limited in it. It does not give you full control over your downloads or even provide optimal speed. So a third party download manager becomes a bit of a necessity.
I praised Free Download Manager, but I recently replaced it with EagleGet Download Manager. It has a simple and sleek interface and comes with wide download protocol support.
As with other download managers, it offers maximum download speed using multi-threaded technology and gives full control over downloadsincluding pause / resume, download schedule and queue management, etc. In addition, it checks downloads for viruses and has the ability to refresh expired download links. FBackup
A back-up of your data is necessary from the moment you first boot your PC. Any system corruption or physical damage can lead to loss of your data. Although there are many online and offline data backup toolsup, but FBackup amazes me with its simple functionality. This completely free backup tool is dead easy to use and you can make backups both online and offline
For offline backups, simply specify the source location, destination location and schedule and the rest is handled by FBackup. You can create online backups to your Google Drive account and the process is the same as offline backup. It also has plugins for popular apps to make a full backupup to make their data without errors. [Download FBackup]
f.lux
If you spend most of your time in front of your PC, especially at night; then you should get f.lux. The tool is one screen color adjuster that removes blue light from the monitor at night known for causing sleep problems and eye fatigue.
By default it is creates an orange (y) display that calms your eyes and helps you to work easily at night. And when you’re done, you won’t have any problems sleeping either. Sleep isn’t a problem for me, but f.lux does help make my PC screen easy on the eyes. It asks for your city location for day / night times and automatically adjusts the screen display to the timeAt first, the screen may seem a bit weird, but after 2-3 days of use, you will see its benefits. Listary
I recently fell in love with this amazing tool and it will be the first tool I will install on any new PC. As far as I can see. Listary is a file manager, file finder, app launcher and quick access tool… Thingy. It just does so much that I’m not even sure which category this tool belongs to. But as far as the website says, it is a search tool for Windows, similar to Windows’ built-in search.
Listary allows you find almost anything on your pc instantly by simply typing what you need (no need to open the tool first). Be it files, settings, folders or apps, it can open anything. Its speed and ease of access have impressed me so much, but it’s very powerful and amazing overall customization options (which I am still discovering). For me, it does a lot better than Cortana on Windows 10 in terms of search, and it’s also extremely lightweight. [Download Listary]
VLC Media Player
It doesn’t matter which version of Windows you are using, the default media player just stinks. It has very limited format support. Instead, I use the VLC media player simply because it has the most extensive support for media formats (never disappointed me) and it’s amazingly customizable.
You get full control over audio, video, subtitles and sync options. The interface is also highly customizable and you get great themes to make it look even better. Plus, it has dozens add-ons available to further improve functionality. [Download VLC media player]
7-zip
Windows’s built-in compression tool is very limited and gives you no option but to compress and decompress. I have to compress and decompress files on a daily basis, but even if you don’t have to do it often it’s important to get a good compression tool. 7-Zip is one powerful tool that provides great control over compressions and decompressions of any type of file.
It allows you to choose from multiple types of compression methods and levels of compression. You can also encrypt your data with strong AES 256-bit encryption and create protective archives of data and update as needed. Plus, it also makes it easy decompress files in bulk and supports all types of compression formats. All these features are necessary if you are ever going to compress or decompress files. CCleaner
One of the best PC cleaning tools and an indispensable companion for any PC user. CCleaner helps you remove all kinds of junk from your PC including temporary files, cache, browser junk files, and much more. This will help keep your PC clean and prevent the PC from slowing down. I clean my PC at least once a month with CCleaner, and there is always over 500MB of junk ready to be removed.
I will also recommend that you check out CCEnhancerIt is an add-on to CCleaner that adds tons of new cleaning options in CCleaner to help you get the most out of it. [Download CCleaner]
Download a third-party browser
Internet Explorer is never recommended for browsing the Internet, so installing a third-party browser is important on a new computer. Although if you are using Windows 10, Microsoft Edge might work fine for you. There are currently three major third party browsers, Chrome Firefox, and OperaChrome is fast and considered the most secure browser. Likewise, Opera is light, fast, and comes with tons of unique featuresAnd Firefox is known for respecting your privacy. Ultimately, it depends on what you need while browsing the web. Make your choice and do not depend on Internet Explorer.
Final thoughts
There are also a lot of other cool tools out there that help keep the PC running smoothly, but these are some of the best and of course my favorite. The above tools also have good alternatives if you don’t like a particular program. So see if you can find something that suits you. What tools will you install on your new PC?
