However, it does have a good image stabilization feature that does a good job of reducing camera shake, but unfortunately comes with a heavy 1.6x crop. There is one thing that the Akaso Brave 7 LE lacks from the start. Its 4K video at 30 frames per second (fps) will please most users-and certainly almost all vloggers-though the action camera market has moved on to bigger and better things; the GoPro HERO8 Black, GoPro HERO7 Black, and DJI Osmo Action all offer 4K video at 60 frames per second. However, the Akaso Brave 7 LE is unique among action cameras in two other areas: it has 6-axis stabilization for all resolutions and captures still images with a 20MP sensor. There are plenty of accessories and mounts in the well-divided box. The most pleasing thing is the provision of two 1,350 mAh batteries and a charger, but there’s plenty more to play with; everything from mounts for handlebars and helmets to a wristwatch remote, adhesive pads and even cable ties for one-off attachments. The Akaso Brave 7 LE is only inherently waterproof to a depth of 1 meter (IPX7), so you’ll need the bulky plastic case if you want to dive with it. The Akaso Brave 7 LE is impressive when used as an outdoor photo camera. Not only is it rugged and completely weatherproof, but it also has a standard tripod thread on its base and an HDMI output under a flap on the side. The fixed focus means you need to keep your subjects at least 50cm away, and the fisheye lens makes straight lines look curvier the closer they are to the edge of the frame. However, you can easily mitigate this effect with the Super Wide, Wide Angle, Medium, and Narrow modes. Even when the geometry changes, all images are colorful, high-contrast, and detailed. There’s also a self-timer mode and a continuous shooting function that allows up to 30 photos. White balance and exposure compensation settings can be adjusted for both photos and videos.
